My instant rejection of the outline is a moment of my youth I shall long remember. Free spirit that my eight-year-old self was I found them restrictive, confining, annoying. It wasn’t until I turned twelve that I slowly began to understand the true nature of outlines.
Not so much restrictive as supportive. Not so much confining as protective. And not so much annoying as vitally essential.
Without a skeletal structure writing soon shows its weaknesses. Without a roadmap creativity quickly becomes overloaded and tedious. Like a house without a frame, a written piece will crumble under the first high wind.
That’s why we here at Fitz’n’Jammer have decided to make structural framework our stock-in-trade, so to speak. We want to be able to guarantee each and every item that we create for our clients, and – with our outlines in place – we do.
