Even something small and fragile can become big and important if viewed in the right way. For instance – a little bluebird fluttering around on the ground a good two hundred and fifty yards away.
In this case taking a lasting photo of a wild bird required hanging sideways over the back seat of the car, breathing softly so as not to scare it, and trying to keep a 200 mm lens focused in!
The same can be true of small words… or small ideas… or small hopes. Put them all together with a little diligence and determination and you might come out with something really, really great.
Creative endeavors are always challenging, sometimes even daunting. Writing, crafting, photography, carpentry… You can always be scared of messing up. But give yourself a break. Everything starts small and grows with time, attention, work and love – the only trick is in learning to see the seeds of greatness in ordinary events.
Hearing (and remembering) a seemingly bizarre phrase from someone might become the authentication a drab piece of writing needs. A small scrap of color might turn out to be a pretty bird you don’t often get to see.
